Tracking trains your dog to use his nose to follow ground disturbances to find a person or objects, while on lead. This also comes in handy if your dog gets lost, as he’s better trained to come find you! This is a team sport and the human must learn to watch/listen/read and trust their dog and the training. These are real world skills developed in a fun and natural way.
This four hour seminar comprises the aspects of Tracking and is suitable for all levels of dogs, as we can teach any dog that uses their nose to follow a track. As the tracking dog advances, we work through a variety of terrain as well as successfully maneuver different turns and “double backs” that a “subject” might take. We also work through cross tracking over the laid track, aged tracks, and article identification. All handlers will learn how to lay and age track, how to mark them, as well as line handling skills.
